Getting around
Public transport
You can use trolley-buses and normal buses to travel around the city, the tickets can be bought inside the buses or trolley-buses from the driver or at the stations or at some tobacconist’s. Each ticket costs 12 CZK (0.4 €), however, if you buy it in the bus from the driver, they can be a little more expensive – about 15 CZK (0.5 €). Each ticket can be used in just one trolley-bus, so if you are changing you trolley-bus, you have to sign a new ticket, even if you used it just for going around the corner. The passengers must sign immediately after boardering on. If not, they can be fined with hundreds of crowns by a controller. The city is starting new chip system, so if you’re planning to stay there longer, you should buy so called City Card for the public transport. Unlike in the intercity transport, the passengers could enter the bus via any of its doors. There are about thirty lines of trolley-buses in the city and the schedule can be found at any trolley-bus stop. All sightseeings and attractions can be found in the city center, so there is usually no problem getting there on foot, especially in the rush hour when the trolley buses may be overcrowded with students, walking could be more comfortable. The trolley-buses go from 3:30 AM to 24:00 PM.
