Studies
University of Hradec Kralove, as well as most other Czech universities, provides some study spots for international students, in 2007, it offered 45 of its students and 22 teachers to travel to universities abroad for studies (lectures) via the Erasmus/Socrates program and offered the same to those universities in return. It has Partnership agreements with universities in Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, France, Lithuania, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Finland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey, Tai-wan, Greece and Great Britain (full list of universities here).
If you are student in one of those countries, you might be able apply for sholarship to Hradec Kralove, or, if you have enough money, you can try to apply for the University on your own. The language departments offer courses in English, French, German and Russian, most of the other lessons available in the university are provided in English for students from abroad. Life expenditures of a student in Hradec Kralove are still a lot lower than in most of Western Europe, first of all there is no tuition fee in Czech public universities, secondly, if you are a good student, you can rent a room in the campus for approximately 1500 – 2000 CZK (50 – 75 €) a month, which is three or four times cheaper than living in your own apartment.
Some other Czech universities, mostly from Prague, have some small departments in Hradec Kralove too, but mostly for Czech students. Charles University, for instance, concentrates most of their non-Czech students in Prague, where they can attend the courses in English.
